What hold us together

 

For million of years humans in most cultures believe that there is a far greater ‘being’ in this world. In most culture and religion, people carry amulets and charms to protect themselves against evil and also to bring good fortune. Amulets and  signify hope and belief which wearer grasp onto, so as to ease their worries and anxieties. 

 

The practice of wearing amulets continue till today, however, the function of these amulets became more than preventing misfortune
and bringing good luck. Amulets and charms of different culture are being sold as souvenirs and fashion accessories in many countries. Despite having little knowledge of these objects, people still buy these amulets hoping to seek for good fortune and protection against ‘evil spirit’ or simply just as a fashion accessory.

 

Amulets sold in gift stores might have lost its’ original mystical magic. However, it seems to be a symbol of human faith towards the supernatural world. The oversized amulets are representation of Hope that humans hold onto, to feel a sense of security and peace.

 何が私たちを一緒にするのか

 

百万年の歴史の中で私たちのどの文化においても、ずっと自分たちより偉大な「存在」が実在することを信じてきた. 殆どの文化と宗教において、人々は、悪霊から身を守ったり、運命を良い方向へと導かせるためお守りや魔除けを身に着ける. お守りや魔除けは、不安や心配事を和らげてくれるために身に着けている人が抱える望みや信仰を示すものだ. 

 

お守りをつける習慣は、今日まで続いている.しかし、これらお守りの役割は、不幸を打ち消し、幸福をもたらすことよりもずっと意味のあるものと変わってきた.多くの国で、違う文化のお守りや魔除けはお土産やファッション・アクセサリーとして売られてる. これらの本来の意味を知らないにもかかわらず、人々は幸運と「悪霊」除けのためにまたは、ただ単にファッション・アクセサリーと
して、これらのお守りを買う. ギフトとしてのお守りは元々秘めていた魔法を消え去ってしまったかもしれない.

 

けれど、それは超自然の世界への思いとして人間のシンボルとして残る。特別大きなお守りは、安心と平和を感じるための人間が抱く望みの代わりである.
